How does Accellion Courier
Secure File Transfer Appliance, SFTA, Work
Accellion offers a 1u linux-based appliance that is typically installed in your DMZ. Give the appliance an IP address, open port 443 for SSL traffic, and you will soon be ready to send and receive large files.
One way to send large files through the Accellion appliance is via a web-based email template. Users internal to your domain can typically log-on with their existing AD/LDAP credentials.
If you are using the web-based email template, just click the TO: field, or enter in the email address of a recipient. Type your message, select your file(s) or folder(s) and hit send. Accellion will upload the files/folders to your appliance; will insert a secure link(s) in your email message; and will send the message to your recipient.
Another way to send large files through the Accellion appliance is via separate client software that you can download. This will place a round, blue Accellion button at the end of the toolbar with
90
in your Outlook or Lotus email client. Instead of clicking the paperclip, just click the little blue button to select the file.
Whether you use the Outlook or Lotus plug in, or the web based email template, your email recipients will receive a normal email, with one or more secure links below your message. When they click on the links, the file will download to their computer.
