Web Interface
Accellion provides all users with access to a web interface where users can log-in to make use of Accellion file transfer. Once logged-in, users can send files and also monitor and track file transfers and receipts. The web interface is designed to be simple and intuitive to use and is available in multiple languages.
The send file page of the Accellion web interface appears to the user as a familiar email interface. From the send file page, users can compose an email and attach up to 10 files. The regular files size limit is 2GB but if the Accellion Java Applet is enabled, users can attach any combination of files/folders up to 20GB in combined size. Users are classified by IT as one of three types:
Standard
Expert
Restricted Sender
Standard and Expert users are user classifications for Internal Users. Restricted Sender is a user classification for an external user who has been given guest privileges to send files back to internal users. Expert users have additional configurable controls such as modifiable file expiration time, although even Expert users operate within the file transfer policies and limits defined on a global basis by IT.
File Cabinet
The File Cabinet provides a record of all files sent by a user including date sent, recipients, time and date of download, and also whether the file is still available for download. Any files within the file cabinet that are still available for download can be resent or sent to new recipients without uploading again to the Accellion Appliance. The file cabinet and all the functionality within the Accellion web interface is accessible from any web enabled device so users can resend files or check file delivery from their phone or any other portable web-enabled device.
Custom Branding
The Accellion User Interface can be optionally custom branded to match the corporate identity of an Accellion customer. Co-branding offers the opportunity to incorporate a customers logo, corporate graphics and colour scheme into the web interface.
Recipient User Interface
Whether using the Accellion web interface or Accellion email plug-ins, the file recipients will receive a normal email, containing one or more secure links. By clicking on these secure links, recipients are able to download files from the Accellion Appliance to their desktop.
Email Plug-in for Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes
Accellion offers downloadable client software that provides users with an email plug-in for either Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes. With the Accellion email plug-in, a special Accellion icon is installed on the email tool bar to enable users to attach large files directly from email. Instead of clicking the traditional paperclip, users click the Accellion icon to attach a file. The Accellion email plug-in is based on Accellion's patent-pending approach to attaching files to email.
